How to use Liscaragh Save
Liscaragh Save adds a button to the Outlook reading pane that saves the open email, or its attachments, into SharePoint or OneDrive. This guide covers day-to-day use once it is installed. If it is not installed yet, see installing Liscaragh Save first.

Saving an email or attachment
-
Open the email
In Outlook, open the message you want to save. Look for Save to SharePoint / OneDrive on the reading pane's ribbon or command surface.
-
Sign in, the first time
The first time you use it, you are prompted to sign in. After that, sign-in is silent as long as your tenant's admin has already completed the one-time consent step (see installing Liscaragh Save).
-
Choose email or attachment
Pick whether to save the whole email (as a
.emlfile) or just the attachment(s). The panel opens to whichever mode you last used, or to your chosen default save mode. -
Pick a destination
Choose OneDrive, or search for a SharePoint site by name, then pick a library and folder. If you have saved from this sender's domain before, the picker suggests that destination automatically; see remembered destinations below.
-
Save
Click Save. The panel shows a link straight to the saved file's folder once it lands. Filenames follow the pattern
YYYY-MM-DD Sender Subject.eml, with characters SharePoint does not allow stripped out automatically, and a duplicate name is renamed by SharePoint rather than overwritten. -
Undo, if needed
An Undo button appears for 60 seconds right after a save and removes the file(s) just created. Useful for a wrong folder or wrong site pick. After 60 seconds it disappears and the save is final.
Settings
The gear icon at the top right of the task pane opens Settings.
- Default save mode
- Choose Email or Attachment. Whichever you pick is what the panel opens to every time you launch it from then on, and it follows you across machines (it is stored against your Microsoft 365 account, not the device).
- Activity
- A one-line summary of your tenant's recent save activity, and a Download activity log (CSV) link. See the activity log below for what is recorded and where it lives.
- Also save this activity log to a SharePoint location
- Optional. Pick a site and library in your own tenant and every save and undo is also appended to a daily file there, in addition to the local, on-device log. See security and data handling for why this stays inside your own tenant rather than Liscaragh's infrastructure.
- Manage subscription
- Opens the Stripe billing portal for your tenant's subscription, to change card details, view invoices, or cancel. Shown once a trial or subscription is active. See the Terms of Service for exactly what cancelling does and doesn't refund.
Whole conversations, remembered destinations and SharePoint columns
Include the whole conversation
A checkbox in email mode. Tick it and Save fetches every message in the open email's thread and saves each one as its own .eml file into the chosen folder, instead of just the message you had open. This skips the duplicate-save warning, so a long thread does not turn into a wall of confirmations; SharePoint's own automatic rename on a naming conflict still applies to every file. Not available for a group mailbox conversation, since those do not expose the underlying email the same way.
Remembered destinations, per sender
Liscaragh Save remembers the last destination you used for email mode and for attachment mode separately, and it also remembers a destination by the sender's domain. Once you have saved something from a particular domain, for example a client or supplier, opening a future email from that same domain suggests that same destination automatically, so repeat saving from the same source usually takes one click.
SharePoint column metadata
After a successful save, Liscaragh Save makes a best-effort attempt to also write the sender, subject and received date onto the SharePoint list columns behind the saved file, so they are searchable and filterable in the library view without opening the file itself. This only works if the destination library already has matching columns. To enable it, create three site columns with these exact internal names and add them to the library's default view:
- EmailFrom — single line of text
- EmailSubject — single line of text
- EmailReceived — date and time
If those columns do not exist in a library, the attempt simply does nothing further; the save itself is unaffected either way.
Duplicate-save warning
Before saving a single email or a selected attachment (not a whole-conversation save, see above), Liscaragh Save checks whether a file with that name already exists in the chosen folder and asks "save anyway?" if so. This is a courtesy prompt, not a safety net: SharePoint renames the new file on a conflict regardless, so nothing is ever silently overwritten either way.
The activity log
Every save and undo is logged: who did it, what kind of item, the subject and sender, the filename, the source mailbox, the destination, when, and whether it succeeded. By default, this log is written only to your own device (this browser profile's local storage) and never sent anywhere, including to Liscaragh. The Activity summary and CSV export in Settings both read from this local store.
This is deliberately per device and per browser profile, not per organisation: the same person on two machines, or two different people, each build up their own separate history that does not merge. If your team wants a shared, tenant-wide view instead, turn on Also save this activity log to a SharePoint location in Settings and pick a site and library. From then on, every save and undo is also appended to a daily file there (one file per day, one line per event), readable by anyone with access to that library, the same as any other file in SharePoint.
Troubleshooting
The button does not appear in Outlook
Check with your Microsoft 365 admin that the add-in has finished deploying; see installing Liscaragh Save. Deployment can take a few hours to reach every mailbox after an admin adds it.
It shows a permission or licence error instead of the save options
Confirm your organisation's admin has completed the one-time consent step, and that your purchase is linked to the same Microsoft 365 tenant your admin deployed the add-in to. If it still does not clear up, contact support@liscaragh.com.
Site search returns nothing
Site search only returns SharePoint sites you personally already have access to. If a site you expect to see is missing, confirm you have access to it directly in SharePoint first.
Saving from a shared mailbox is not working
Shared mailbox detection needs a modern Outlook host, New Outlook for Windows or Outlook on the web. On an older host it falls back to your primary mailbox only.
Getting help
If something is not working as expected, email support@liscaragh.com with what you expected and what happened instead. A screenshot of the task pane at the point it went wrong is usually the fastest way to get an answer.
